eBay has introduced a new label in Germany, allowing commercial sellers to stand out on the platform. The eBay Top-Service designation provides shoppers with insights into certain aspects of the service, such as timely shipping. This label can be compared to Amazon’s Prime.
A key difference between Amazon Prime and eBay’s new Top-Service label: the latter logo appears automatically. Sellers do not need to sign up to be eligible and do not have to pay any (additional) fees.
End of eBay Guarantee and eBay Plus
With the arrival of the new label, two other logos for sellers in Germany are being discontinued: the eBay Guarantee and eBay Plus logos. “The advantage for you: thanks to excellent service, you can now differentiate yourself from the competition more easily – without registration and without extra costs”, states eBay. Note: the paid eBay Plus loyalty program for buyers, introduced nine years ago, will continue to exist.
‘A relaxed shopping experience’
“Do you want to stand out from the competition with excellent delivery and service standards?” eBay asks sellers in Germany , where the company has an estimated gross merchandise value of 8.9 billion euros. “Then you have the chance to receive the eBay Top-Service logo. It signals to buyers that they can look forward to a relaxed shopping experience and appears in various places on eBay.”
The logo appears in various places on eBay’s website.
The eBay Top-Service logo appears in eBay.de search results, on individual item pages, in the shopping cart, and at checkout. According to eBay, this increases merchants’ visibility and sales opportunities, as the logo enhances brand trust.
Criteria
To receive the Top-Service label, business sellers must have ‘top ratings’ and an above-average service status on eBay. They must also meet delivery promises and provide tracking information for items priced at 10 euros or more. Their products must have a fixed-price option, be in stock in Germany, and offer free shipping within the country for the listed price.
Sellers must offer free shipping within Germany.
After targeting private sellers, eBay Germany announced a number of enhancements for commercial sellers last summer. These improvements included upgrades in marketing and logistics. With the Top-Service label, the American company, a well-established name in German ecommerce, is taking a new step in a market where fellow American Amazon reigns supreme.
